http://www.officer.com/web/online/Investigation/Shoe-Print-Evidence/18$42869
"... today there are over one hundred manufacturers of athletic shoes for both men and women. Each shoe with a distinctive pattern to their sole and the name of the brand in most cases stamped into the bottom of the shoe. Thus, a shoe print has become a much more vital piece of circumstantial evidence that can help place a perpetrator at the scene of the crime and possibly eliminate other persons of interest from consideration."

[USA] Supply Chain Security: CBP Works with International Entities to Promote Global Customs Security Standards and Initiatives, but Challenges Remain / Government Accountability Office, 18 August 2008
PDF - http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d08538.pdf
“Oceangoing cargo containers play a vital role in global trade but can also pose a risk of terrorist exploitation. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), oversees security of the supply chain—the flow of goods from manufacturer to retailer. CBP anticipates that adoption of uniform, international customs security standards could eventually lead to a system of mutual recognition whereby the customs security-related practices and programs taken by one customs administration are recognized and accepted by another administration.”

Cocaine 'flush' could be first anti-overdose drug
New Scientist, 31 August 2008
http://digbig.com/4xkdd
"By tweaking a naturally occurring enzyme, chemists have created a molecule that could flush a cocaine overdose out of the body before it can cause irreparable damage to the central nervous system. If the enzyme works in humans, it would be the first therapy to remove the drug from a user's body. Currently, doctors can only relieve the symptoms of a cocaine overdose, by lowering the patient's temperature and reducing their heart rate. "
