"A new drive to cut the level of fire-related youth crimes - such as arson, hoax calls and attacks on firefighters - was announced by Fire Minister Angela Smith. This is part of ongoing, wider efforts to reduce fire deaths, injuries and property damage. Since 2001 youth arson attacks have fallen by 49 percent and resulting casualties have dropped by 46 percent in England. However youth fire crime remains a real issue and the government is working to further reduce the number of offences committed."
