"A fascinating if somewhat depressing insight into the evolution of organised crime in Australia is being provided by detailed submissions made to a federal parliamentary inquiry on the threat it poses. It’s not often that you see Australia’s national and state crime-fighting bodies lining up to go on the public record with their views on how the fight against organised crime is going. As I said, they make fascinating reading.
The submissions are being made to the parliamentary inquiry on organised crime being held by the Joint Committee on the Australian Crime Commission. The 17 received so far have come from the ACC itself, the Australian Federal Police, the anti-money laundering agency Austrac, Australian Customs, the Commonwealth DPP, the Australian Institute of Criminology, state police forces and state anti-corruption and crime commissions.
You can access all the submissions made so far here."
