"The Home Affairs Committee today announced that, as a consequence of the transfer of responsibility for sentencing policy from the Home Office to the new Ministry of Justice, it has, with regret, decided that it has no alternative but to cease work on its inquiry entitled “Towards Effective Sentencing”. This matter is now no longer within its remit, but within that of the Constitutional Affairs Committee."
