Rapporteurs' role in fight against people trafficking

"On 26 April 1997, the then Dutch presidency of the EU hosted a ministerial conference that asked member states to appoint national rapporteurs on people trafficking. Recommendations contained in the final declaration of the Hague conference said national rapporteurs should be tasked with collecting information on the whole scope of anti-trafficking measures in their respective countries, including existing rules and regulations, preventive measures, police investigation and public prosecution, and assistance extended to victims."
