"Canada's complement of police officers recorded its second largest annual increase over the past 30 years in 2007. This resulted in the most police per capita, 195 per 100,000 population, since 1993. As of May 15, 2007, the nation's police forces employed 64,134 officers, a 2.7% increase from the previous year. Ontario and British Columbia alone accounted for nearly two-thirds of the total gain of about 1,700 male and female officers."
