"According to UNICEF, an estimated 1.2 million children are trafficked each year throughout the world for a wide variety of purposes that include sexual exploitation, petty crimes, organised begging, the removal of organs, illegal adoption, transportation of illicit drugs, domestic servitude and other forms of exploitative labour practices. Trafficked children may be moved from one country, or continent, to another, but they can also be transported within the same country, as is more often the case in southeastern Europe."
