"A SCHEME to cut car crime, fire-related crime and associated anti-social behaviour amongst Cumbria's young people is beginning to reap rewards, according to new figures.
Spearheaded by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, the Youth Offending Referral Programme takes young people who have become involved in arson, car crime and hoax calls and educates them about the consequences of their actions.Last year, 63 young people were referred to the programme.Figures now show that of these, just a fifth (21 per cent) reoffended."
