"Many people falsely assume that arranged and forced marriages are the same thing, when in fact there is a very real difference. In an arranged marriage the consent of both parties is obtained, but a forced marriage is conducted without valid consent, where duress such as physical, psychological and emotional abuse, false imprisonment and kidnapping is often a factor."
