"While the majority of national and international attention is focused on Italy's four main mafia groupings (Cosa Nostra, 'Ndrangheta, the Camorra and Sacra Corona Unita), the country is also being infiltrated by criminal gangs that originate in other countries. This is partly a result of Italy's highly criminalised environment, in which entrenched mafia presence has encouraged the development of related types of crime."
