"Do big retailers sexualise young children in their advertising to sell clothing and other fashion accessories? And if they do, are they feeding the unhealthy appetites of paedophiles? That will be the question put before the Federal Court at the beginning of a unique hearing into the issue of the use of children in advertising. Retailer David Jones is suing a think tank, the Australia Institute, over a discussion paper it released last year accusing the department store chain on eroticising and sexually exploiting children in its advertisements."
The discussion paper “Corporate Paedophilia” (you can read the summary online) did not name David Jones directly, but mentioned the company in an electronic appendix. But a media release by the Australia Institute named David Jones and Myer as having “jumped on the bandwagon” in eroticising children to boost sales and profits."
