Beat officers key to cracking gang violence

"BEAT officers working in gang-ridden communities must be made to feel their job is worthwhile and not second to officers in more specialist roles, the National Black Police Association has said. Glen Williams, vice-president of the association and its lead on gun crime, said it is important for people to realise that it is not merely a black community problem."
